I’ve always loved Mount Rainier for as long as I can remember. Ever since my first time seeing a picture of it in an old National Geographic magazine long time ago when I was a little girl. Yet I’ve never been there. It is a dream of mine to go someday and see its timeless splendor in person.
The funny thing though is I’ve been asked to do artwork of it more than once by my customers. Every time I painted it, the more I wanted to see it & the more real it became in my head.
How this mat came to existence with the featured artwork was because I was experimenting with gouaches for the first time in 2020 and decided to paint Mount Rainier. I loved how it turned out especially with the bright, cheerful Indian paintbrush flowers, which is my absolute favorite wildflower. It is a beautiful reminder that I will go one day soon. I hope you love this mat and may it inspire you & bring you joy with its beautiful colors!
Namaste,
Emily
